About Us

Who We Are

For more than 30 years, the Pleasant Valley Swim Team has provided summer swim instruction, stroke development and competition for area youth.  We compete in the Northern Virginia Swim League (NVSL).  Our mission is to promote within members of our team advance aquatic skill and the principles of teamwork and good sportsmanship.

What We Offer

When you swim with the Piranhas, you can expect to become a more proficient swimmer, make new friends and to have fun!  We offer swimming opportunities to all children ages 4-18.  Our Junior Piranhas program is perfect for those just learning how to swim and to be comfortable in the water.  Because our Junior Piranhas meet five days a week over the course of six weeks, it is very common for participants to make far more progress with us than during months spent at other swim programs.

Once a Junior Piranha can swim one length of the pool, they'll be ready for the Piranhas swim team.  If a child already has swimming experience, our coaches will evaluate them for their readiness for the Piranhas swim team.  The Piranhas swim team is a competitive swim team which is also focused on stroke development.  Swimmers compete in 1-2 swim meets per week over the course of an 8 weeks season.

As a team, we like to kick back from training and competition with fun social events throughout the season.  In past seasons, we have taken day trips to local water parks, enjoyed trips to the movie theater, bowling alley, mini golf and outings for ice cream.

Where You Can Find Us

Our home pool is the Pleasant Valley Recreation Association (PVRA) pool located at 4347 Cub Run Road.  We practice 5 days per week during the swim season, which runs from Memorial Day to about the third week in July.  To swim with us, you must first be a pool member through PVRA.  But don't worry, PVRA is an open membership pool which means you don't have to live within the neighborhood to join.  Please reach out to the PVRA Board to learn more about membership: [email protected].

Want to Learn More?

Our website is a great starting point to learn about our team, but we know it may not cover all of your questions.  Please reach out to the swim team leadership board to ask us any additional questions: [email protected] or go to the Contact Us portion of our website and send us an e-mail through that portal.  We look forward to talking with you about all the swim team as to offer!  Go Piranhas!
